Open Interaction Association (OIA) is a nonprofit organization registered on 27.02.2007year by Sofia City Court, conducts its business in public interest and in accordance with the provisions of the Law for Non-Profit
Main activities of the Association is: to develop and participate in projects, activities and initiatives to promote forms of informal education and to create opportunities for social and creative skills of young people with disabilities, from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds. Develop and participate in civic projects and initiatives related to various forms of vocational, personal development, social adaptation and integration of people with disabilities, from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds, without age restrictions in all spheres of public life, protect the right of access to information, protecting the rights of participation of these people in public life, encourage and promote open communication between people regardless of their health, social and public differences.
The members of Open Interaction Association are various experts - professors from Sofia, New Bulgarian University, social workers and psychologists, and translators and sign language with extensive experience in national education and rehabilitation practices, projects designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities, disseminating good practices.
Open Interaction Association is working closely with the Union of the Deaf in Bulgaria, the Regional Organization of the Deaf in Sofia, the Association of Parents with Deaf Children, School for children with impaired vision, the National Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Resource Centers from Sofia, Bulgaria and many other governmental and nongovernmental institutions and organizations.
The Association participates in initiatives funded by EU - Leonardo da Vinci and Grundtvig, Daphne III of the Directorate General Justice, Freedom and Security Commission and the Youth in Action Programme of the EC. Many members of OIA acquire different skills and knowledge through informal way of learning within the projects under these programs.
